Audience
All ECTs, NQTs+1 and New to EYFS practitioners working in schools, maintained nurseries and nurseries managed by schools

Description

The focus of these termly meetings is to share good early years practice and provide updates on new initiatives. These meetings will provide opportunities to visit schools across the city and to see examples of good provision.

These sessions will provide additional support and training on topics such as outdoor learning, schemas, engaging boys, early literacy and early mathematics. The focus of these sessions will be developed in partnership with delegates who book on.

NB: The agenda for the meetings will be shaped and agreed in consultation with practitioners.

The agenda for each meeting will be confirmed via email.

Cost Details

£35 per person for all LA maintained schools in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire

£45 per person for all academies in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, schools from other LAs and Independent schools

Code: SCH/22/8 Preparing for Year 2 Assessments in Writing

The course is designed for teachers to attend all 3 sessions, however individual sessions can also be booked.

Session 3: Writing (January):

• Ensure long and medium term plans for writing provide pupils with the opportunity to meet the expected standard and beyond at the end of KS1
• Further develop a deeper understanding of how grammar and punctuation can be taught in a range of writing
• Explore a range of strategies for pupils to self and peer assess their writing

Why commit to keeping the ELSA accreditation?

  • ELSAs will access ongoing psychological support and updated training for a role in school which involves complex issues related to children
  • Builds capacity in schools to prevent and manage social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Accreditation status will benefit school development in relation to the mental health agenda
  • Psychological support for ELSAs may reduce the need to gain direct psychological work with children

Description
This is an opportunity to ‘Aim High’ and be ambitious for our children in EYFS and in Y1.The focus of these termly twilight meetings is to share good phonics practice and support schools in further improving and sustaining Y1 phonics outcomes of above 85% and above 90%. Meetings will focus on identifying key actions to support the leadership of phonics and how teaching, assessment and monitoring can be further developed.

The first meeting will support writing an effective action plan that: directly links to the School Development Plan; provides a strategic route map; helps you achieve the goals you have set through the working document and paths the way to a whole-school improvement. The meetings will also provide opportunities to visit schools and leaders across the city and beyond to discuss and see good practice in action. Experienced and successful Phonics Leaders and Phonics Champions will also contribute to these meetings.

Each session will focus on:
• Reviewing and refining current action plans
• Reviewing assessment outcomes and actions to further support learning and teaching
• Sharing good/outstanding local practice
• Sharing good/outstanding practice from outside of Peterborough

Session 2 & 4 will be school visits, dates & venues for school visits to be set at session 1 – No charge for school visit

Description
Termly meetings provide opportunities for networking with colleagues, exploring examples of mathematical activities and discussion of pedagogical issues. Sessions will include updates, latest news and relevant research findings. There will be advice and support for leaders to deepen their own subject knowledge and ideas for facilitating professional development and improvement in their schools. An ongoing focus of the briefings will be identifying and closing gaps in maths and maximising progress for all pupils, including vulnerable groups.

Ideas for staff development and training will be shared.
